DAF Trucks gathers industry professionals in Madrid
On October 15 and 16, DAF Trucks hosted a significant event in Madrid, bringing together over 400 professionals, clients, and collaborators from the Spanish and Portuguese transport sectors. This gathering provided a platform to unveil the complete range of new generation rigid vehicles alongside the comprehensive services and components offered through PACCAR Parts’ TRP program.
The inaugural day took place at the prestigious Metropolitano Stadium, where the transportation community and dealerships congregated in an atmosphere charged with anticipation. Key figures such as Michael Kuijs, sales director for Europe, along with Luis Reyes and Antonio Morales, responsible for operations in Spain and Portugal, presented the latest innovations. Attendees had the opportunity to explore various models, including the XB, XD, XF, and XG, displayed in multiple configurations.
Following the initial presentations, participants moved to the Jarama Circuit, where they engaged in driving tests and technical workshops. DAF Trucks showcased sixteen rigid vehicles from the XD and XF ranges, demonstrating specialized configurations such as container hooks, refrigerated trucks, cranes, and construction vehicles. Among the highlights was the DAF CF 4×4, known for its participation in challenging events like the Dakar Rally.
Emphasis on Technology and Efficiency in DAF's New Generation
The New Generation DAF is built on three strategic pillars: safety, efficiency, and driver comfort. These principles are reflected in their latest vehicle designs, which incorporate advanced technologies to enhance performance.
- Safety: Vehicles are equipped with direct vision systems and driving assistance technologies to ensure safer operations.
- Efficiency: Engines, including the PACCAR MX-11 and MX-13, are optimized to minimize fuel consumption and emissions.
- Driver Comfort: Enhanced cabin designs provide a more comfortable experience for drivers during long journeys.
Innovative technologies such as Miller cycle synchronization help reduce emissions and fuel consumption. Additionally, the new SR1344 rear axle improves efficiency by up to 1%, showcasing DAF's commitment to sustainable transport solutions.
Off-road Trials and Construction Vehicles
The event featured off-road trials where two XDc concrete mixers and two XFc dump trucks were put through their paces. These new construction trucks by DAF demonstrated exceptional robustness and adaptability, making them ideal for demanding tasks and access to challenging terrains. Attendees praised their maneuverability and cabin comfort, even in off-road conditions.
Comprehensive DAF Range: Variety, Technology, and Customization
DAF offers a diverse lineup of trucks designed for various applications, each equipped with state-of-the-art technology:
- DAF XB: Ranging from 7.5 to 19 tons, ideal for urban settings with engines PX-5 and PX-7 offering 170 to 310 HP and equipped with 8-speed PowerLine automatic gearboxes.
- DAF XD: Designed for medium-distance distribution (19-32t), available in refrigerated, container hook, machinery platform, and optimized power take-off versions, including electric options for urban demands.
- DAF XF: High-capacity trucks for long-distance applications and specialized transport, available in configurations such as 6×2, 8×4, and as ATP tankers.
- DAF XDc and XFc: Robust vehicles for construction and earthworks, tested off-road and on the road, with configurations of 4×2, 6×4, and 8×4, equipped with powerful MX-11 and MX-13 engines.
- DAF Electric: Electric versions of the XD and XF, highlighting autonomy, cabin silence, and ease of handling, with configurations for gross vehicle weights up to 50 tons.
During the event, participants experienced open-road tests with electric XD tractors and a BEV refrigerated truck, emphasizing the comfort and quiet operation of electric vehicles in heavy transport.
Specialized Workshops and Tailored Solutions
Attendees engaged in PACCAR Financial, Parts, Connect, and Body workshops, showcasing the extensive offerings of TRP, the universal parts brand of PACCAR Parts. These workshops facilitated technical exchanges and provided insights into financing, spare parts, connectivity, and integrated body solutions.
One notable program, Ready-to-Go, simplifies vehicle acquisition, featuring body solutions from partners like Palfinger, HIAB, and Ros Roca. This initiative also offers Plug & Play configurations for specific body types.
The TOPEC RTS platform optimizes vehicle selection by calculating load distribution and simulating fuel consumption, also determining the most efficient driveline.
